For a road to be built the original concept was to be funded by the Conservatives Private Finance Initiative (PFI). This was replaced by the Public Private Partnership (PPP) under Labour. Sadly Labour eliminated all road plans from their form of initiative and it was not until 2002 that Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott relented and the Government did a u-turn in allowing some road improvements and bypasses to be considered. However to date the Kingskerswell Bypass is not one of these.

An alternative to a Government scheme of this nature would be a toll road to be allowed. The first, was opened recently in Birmingham . It is believed that a toll road based on the current volume of vehicles using the road would prove hugely viable, even if only 50% of vehicles were to use the new bypass. Imagine the impact this would have on the A380 and residents.
