In 1976 a public consultation had taken place to decide on a preferred route which was announced by Devon County Council.

In 1994 the campaign by the FSB was launched and an initial public meeting was held with Kingskerswell Parish residents at the Parish Hall, followed by an open meeting at the Imperial Hotel.

There have been many other public meetings over the years involving local residents and Ministers alike. Topics have included the road itself, the preferred route, funding and impacts of the proposed road.
